New Glasgow Lobster Suppers

SEATING CAPACITY: 10 - 400

DATES OF OPERATION: May 15 to October 15

BUSINESS DESCRIPTION: The Original Lobster Supper! Enjoy lobster the Island way, served fresh from our own lobster pound. Many believe that it’s not just dinner but a unique Island attraction one should experience.

SPECIAL FEATURES: Set in one of the most enchanting locations on Prince Edward Island, the dining room of the New Glasgow Lobster Suppers gazes out upon the steady River Clyde that runs its course through the rolling green hills. And just when you think you will never be able to take your eyes off this magnificent sight, an even more attractive sight is set before you: A 1lb succulent red Island lobster with a bountiful side of precious Island potato salad. A hush flows over your group as they begin to experience an inspiring, age-old Island tradition. A lobster supper that is so good it consumes the conversation, leaving you with a group of delegates that are completely content.

This delectable part of our culture was originally conducted by the church and local community to raise money for charitable causes. New Glasgow Lobster Suppers is known as the original P.E.I. lobster supper and started with a single meal on June 24, 1958. Since then the restaurant has developed into one of the largest and most popular lobster suppers on Prince Edward Island. New Glasgow Lobster Suppers specializes in serving fresh Atlantic lobster from the on-site pound, capable of holding over 20,000 pounds of live lobster. Their famous home cooking, baked fresh daily, has contributed to much of their success. Accommodating groups of 10 - 400 people in either the Clyde Room or Glasgow Room allows flexibility when planning for groups. Arrange to have the Lobster Supper turn into a Ceilidh in the evening with space for entertainment and dancing.

Which parts are edible? How do they fish lobster? What do they eat? How are they kept? How old is market sized (1 pound) lobster? The friendly and knowledgeable staff at New Glasgow Lobster Suppers can answer all of these questions, offering your delegates a better understanding of this aquaculture industry. If lobster isn’t enough to dispel your fresh Atlantic seafood cravings, they also serve mussels by the bucket full which are grown in nearby bays. During one season the New Glasgow Lobster Suppers will serve over 50,000 pounds of these delectable treats.

This no-frills affair perfectly showcases unadorned, local seafood and the friendly Island hospitality shown by the staff will have a lasting memory of a true Island lobster supper at the New Glasgow Lobster Suppers.

Also if the client would like entertainment, Peake’s has access to a number of the top entertainers in Atlantic Canada and would be happy to book your entertainment for you. Peake’s Quay is home to ATLANTIC CANADA’s BEST live entertainment. Over the past number of years Peake’s Quay, with its beautiful views of the Charlottetown Harbour, has become a very popular location for large corporate functions. A number of these functions have been National or International conferences, with anywhere from 100 to 500 people. Some past functions include:

2009 CACP Conference Community Fun Night The Canadian Association of Chiefs of police (CACP) held the City of Charlottetown Community Fun Night at he historic Charlottetown Seaport Event Center where Peake's Quay catered the event. This event took place on August 10,2009 and over 700 delagates and exibitors attended. With the dedicated support and assistance of John Likely and his team from Peake's Quay, this event was a huge success. The service of a complete lobster supper was done in a very timely fashion with plenty of food and beverages for all. The added touch of mussels was great and everyone raved about them.

Once again, a big thank you to you and your team for excellent service, great food and a very memorable evening of a night of Island hospitality which was enjoyed by all our delegates.
-Peter Cuthbert, Executive Director
-Gayle Ryan, Banquets and hospitality coordinator

Canadian Property Tax Association “The delegates who attended our Lobster Fest are still talking about it. We always hold an off-site event but the last one at Peake’s Quay was labeled as “THE BEST EVER”. This is due to the ambiance and friendly staff of your establishment. The food was excellent and the service was great. I would not hesitate to recommend Peake’s Quay to anyone who wishes to have a successful function such as we did.”
-Vivan Marcotte, National Office Manager

Stellar Conference & Marketing “Thank You to you and your entire team for the fabulous event hosted by my client D & B Canada. From the initial planning with Ebbie Toombs, I knew we were in good hands.

Ebbie’s dedication to detail and professionalism went a long way to contributing to the success of the event. On site we enjoyed the excellent food, the atmosphere and appreciated your team’s flexibility and eagerness to host an Outstanding event for the client. I look forward to coming back to PEI and doing business together again.”
- Ellen Boddington, CMP; President

Goss Gilroy Inc. “On behalf of the partners of Goss Gilroy Inc, I would like to send along a heartfelt “thank you” for the marvelous job you and your staff did on Tuesday, June 6th when our firm hosted our 25th anniversary at Peake’s Quay.

As you know, I was involved in organizing the details with you and sadly was not personally in attendance. However, I have heard rave reviews about how accommodating you were to the GGI partners and to all who attended. Among the comments that came back were that the setting was lovely; the music was lively and just the right volume; the food was delicious with ample quantities and there were plenty of wait staff serving through the course of the entire evening.” - Cindy Curran, Chief Operations Officer; Goss Gilroy Inc.

Canadian Association of Medical Radiation Technologists “Our social event hosted at Peake’s Quay was a smashing success. The service was excellent and we received many rave reviews on the lobster and steak supper. The staff was extremely helpful, so helpful that we hosted our volunteer appreciation dinner at Peake’s Quay as well. We have no hesitation in recommending your facility for any other groups planning a social night out. Thanks to all who were involved with our very successful event.” - Theresa Callaghan, President; PEI Assn. Of Medical Radiation Technologists

Canadian Police Association (off-site) “I am writing this letter in response to the GREAT JOB you and your staff performed at our Lobster supper held on the Government Wharf for the Canadian Police Association.

There are times that organizations such as yours would not look at taking on such a request, but with your determination and thoroughness, the supper came off in flying colors. Although it has been a year since the event, we Islanders are still hearing about how good the supper was and how this small province held its own against the larger provincial organizations.

With groups such as yours “The Island way of life will be instilled greater into the hearts of people who are fortunate to come to the Island.” - Cpl. Marvin Cameron; President PEI Police Association

Canadian Association of Motor Transport Administrators “The Canadian Association of Motor Transport Administrators (CAMTA) Annual Meeting, held from May 19th to 24th was a huge success and I want to thank you for your part in ensuring that success. The Fun Night at Peake’s Quay was a total success with the food, service and entertainment top notch. You and your staff are to be congratulated on a very successful event.

As outgoing President of CAMTA, please accept my thanks for your contribution during our event.” - John MacDonald, Director; Highway Safety Division and Information Technology

Canadian Firefighters Combat Challenge “Peake’s Quay has a way about them to bring to life the Island’s Great Hospitality. The service and food was great.”
- Winston Bryan; PEI Firemans Association
